Since the 90’s, Jamil Gulmann Shihab (*1971, DK) has defined large swathes of the visual language of hip hop. With his current solo exhibition, MILAAP presents a process-oriented retrospective, ranging from notorious portraits of pop culture icons to rarely or never presented works and archive materials, all shedding a new light on the work of the Godfather of the Ghetto Fabulous look. At the opening, we had the pleasure of the Jakob Dinesen Quartet performing their project Unconditional Love, letting common frequencies – photographic, musical, and metaphysical – meet.
